Christian Meditation at St John's

Meditation: the practice of the presence of God

"Be still and know that I am God"   Psalm 46:10

The parish Meditation Group meets weekly on Wednesdays at 7:45 a.m. in the Clergy Office (off the main lounge) for approximately half an hour. The time begins with a brief prayer, one shared by Christian meditators all over the world whose practice is inspired by the World Community of Christian Meditation (WCCM).

We are silent for 25 minutes as we sit or kneel, then we close with the Lord's Prayer.

Silence. Stillness. Simplicity.

It is simple, but not easy, as we try to put aside all our own stuff and make room for God - Jesus - the Holy Spirit.

The WCCM teaches a practice derived from the Gospel teaching of Jesus and the advice of early Christian monks.

Ideally our meditation is a daily practice, usually at home but it is very good to be together in a group once a week.

WCCM has a Facebook page and an App for meditators so you can pray in whatever quiet space you have, using the timer and simple format.
