Youth Group
The year 9-13 Youth Group, known as the FRIDGE, meets in the Parish Hall
from 5:00 to 7:00 on Sunday nights, with anywhere up to 25 people
attending. There are games, food, discussion and several away
trips per term. (Website
Administration understands that FRIDGE is actually an acronym, but that
it stands for different things depending on who you ask and when. The
important points are that it's cool and it often involves food.)

The FRIDGE in 2007: Highlights
Samstock was awesome! Samstock is a Christian music festival
held in Mosgiel every year with an emphasis on God and music. The
festival included bands from all over New Zealand, as well as Dunedin's
home grown bands Native, The Fee Street Hustle and many more. The
event was an awesome opportunity to meet others, have fun and meet Christian
musicians who operate in the music industry.
At the end of last year we, the FRIDGE, held a youth service! The
focus of the service was mission, and how we can make a difference at the
end of the earth (say Nepal), in uncomfortable places (a rest home), in
the wider community (your school) and directly around you (in your family).
"It is better to be a small part of the solution, than a small part
of the problem!" Some missions members of the FRIDGE were involved
in:
- Bringing
fair-trade to schools
- Random acts
of kindness, such as making face-biscuits for people etc.
- Striving
to live by the example of Jesus in our communities!
Other SWEET
activities
- Rock climbing
- Trips to
the beach (fire, marshmallows, soccer, you know . . . the usual!)
- Youth Forum
- Pizza night
(we invited some special guests and provided a three course meal of pizza,
including a dessert pizza, live music, complete with waiter/waitresses
and mood lighting!)
- Cardboard
furniture competition
And
more!
Note to the Future
The FRIDGE is back for 2008 . . . We are increasingly focused
on Jesus, mission, friendships, music and having a good time! This
year will feature:
- Going to
Samstock
- Easter Camp
- Participating
in nationwide youth development
- Running
youth services

more!
