Services of Worship

     Sunday

There are normally three services each Sunday:

8:00 a.m.  A service of Holy Communion, using the old Book of Common Prayer on the first and fourth Sundays of each month and the New Zealand Prayer Book on all other Sundays.  This is a quiet service with a sermon but no hymns.  Approximate duration: 40 minutes.

10:00 a.m.  The main service of the day.  The New Zealand Prayer Book is used on most Sundays.  On the third Sunday of each month an All Age Eucharist is held; this is a less formal service attended by parishioners from 0 to 90 years of age.  The Parish Choir sings at all services except the All Age Eucharist.  Approximate duration: 70 minutes.

On the fifth Sunday (in months which have one), we often hold a combined 10:00 a.m. service with our neighbouring parish of St Mary's Mornington.  This service may be at either church; please see our Calendar and Noticeboard page for details.

All Age Eucharist

7:00 p.m.  There are several types of service held at 7:00 p.m. on different Sundays.  The most common service is a relaxed and informal Evening Worship, held in
the Kataluma (the new lounge) adjacent to the church.  A traditional Choral Evensong, with the Choir present, takes place in the church on (usually) the third Sunday of each month.  A Contemplative Eucharist, a meditative service using the music of the Taizé community in France, is generally held on the first Sunday of the month.  This service may take place in either the Kataluma or the church.

The above schedule is occasionally interrupted for a Youth Service.  This service is similar to Evening Worship, but with music in a more modern style, led by musicians from the Youth Group.  Attendance is not limited to young people!

Approximate duration: 60 minutes.  There is generally no 7:00 p.m. service on holiday weekends; please see the Calendar and Noticeboard page to confirm the type of service on any particular date.

Between Christmas and the end of January there is only one Sunday service, at 9:30 a.m.

Contemplative Eucharist

     Wednesday

10:00 a.m.  The Wednesday service of Holy Communion uses the old Book of Common Prayer. This is a short service held in the Parish Lounge and followed by morning tea.  Approximate duration: 30 minutes.

There is no Wednesday service between Christmas and the end of January.

There are additional services at certain times of the year.  To check our schedule for the next few weeks, please see the Calendar and Noticeboard page.
